The SUBLIME consortium is pleased to see that recent monitoring campaigns at the Van Hall Bridge in Amsterdam are now featured in an online article and video published by Aan de Gracht(en) Amsterdam. The publication highlights how in-depth monitoring of steel bridges contributes to a better understanding of their condition, vulnerabilities, and long-term performance.
The Van Hall Bridge is one of the locations where monitoring activities are being carried out in connection with the SUBLIME project. The featured work demonstrates how knowledge developed within the consortium is already being applied in practice to support the maintenance of a large family of steel bridges in Amsterdam. By combining sensor data, inspections, and advanced analysis, SUBLIME aims to reduce uncertainty in degradation processes and enable more informed, future-proof maintenance decisions.
This real-world example illustrates the broader ambition of SUBLIME: to improve the sustainability and reliability of steel infrastructure by integrating monitoring, predictive modelling, and governance perspectives. The article shows how project insights move beyond research alone and contribute directly to day-to-day asset management challenges faced by public infrastructure owners.
